Responsible research and lasting impact

 

Scientific excellence in MATERIALIZE is combined with responsibility towards the research community, society and the environment.

 

Fellows will be encouraged and supported to:

  • publish their results in Open Access;

  • manage and share research data in accordance with FAIR principles;

  • follow recognised standards of research integrity;

  • communicate their work to scientific and non-specialist audiences;

  • consider the potential societal and technological relevance of their research;

  • apply sustainable research practices aligned with the MSCA Green Charter.

 

By connecting methodological innovation, advanced materials research and researcher-centred career development, MATERIALIZE will strengthen Europe’s capacity to create new knowledge and translate fundamental chemical research into future technologies.

 

An international network supporting every fellow

 

MATERIALIZE fellows will be supported not only by their host groups at IOC PAS, but also by an expanding international network of at least 15 associated partners across 11 countries.

 

The network currently brings together 12 academic institutions and three industry partners, providing fellows with access to complementary scientific expertise, specialist research environments, and perspectives from beyond academia. Further partnerships will be established during the programme to broaden the available expertise, create new opportunities for collaboration, and open up additional research directions.

 

This expanding network will provide each fellow with a broad and dynamic environment in which to develop their research, test new ideas, establish new collaborations, and explore emerging scientific directions and career opportunities in academia, industry, and other research-driven sectors.

The Institute of Organic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences (IOC PAS) is a leading research institute based in Warsaw, Poland. Established in 1964, it conducts fundamental and applied research in organic chemistry and related fields, while training researchers at doctoral and postdoctoral level.

 

IOC PAS is recognised nationally and internationally for its contributions to organic synthesis, catalysis, functional materials and computer-assisted chemistry.

 

As the host institution and coordinator of MATERIALIZE, IOC PAS will provide fellows with the scientific environment, state-of-the-art infrastructure, supervision and professional support needed to develop ambitious, independent research projects.

Develop your own research project within an internationally recognised scientific environment and build the scientific, leadership, and professional skills required for the next stage of your career. A central objective of MATERIALIZE is to foster scientific independence and excellence by providing fellows with the conditions, infrastructure, mentoring, and training needed to pursue ambitious research, while creating a bridge towards an independent career, successful applications for their own research funding, and future leadership roles in academia, industry, or other research-driven sectors.

Support for research visibility and communication

 

MATERIALIZE fellows will receive professional support in communicating their research, presenting its significance and building the visibility of their scientific achievements. To help fellows bring their research to wider audiences and build strong professional profiles, MATERIALIZE will provide: 

 

  • individual researcher profiles and project presentations;

  • articles and news covering research progress, results and scientific milestones;

  • “My Research, My Impact” — a series of 15 short films in which each fellow will present their research journey, key achievements and results, as well as the broader relevance of their work to society and technology;

  • short videos and social media reels documenting fellows’ everyday laboratory work, research progress and important project milestones;

  • content for the MATERIALIZE website, YouTube and social media channels;

  • communication support for publications, conference presentations and other scientific achievements;

  • preparation for media interviews and public-engagement activities.

The programme will promote an inclusive research culture that recognises different career paths and supports equal participation in training, mobility, scientific leadership and decision-making. Recruitment and evaluation procedures will be designed to reduce the influence of gender bias and actively welcome applications from women and researchers from diverse backgrounds, including those currently underrepresented in research.
