Proposed projects must contribute to the broad scientific objectives of MATERIALIZE and be aligned with the expertise, infrastructure, and research environment available at IOC PAS. The programme supports original research in organic synthesis and synthetic methodology, including the development of new reactions, synthetic strategies, and complex molecular architectures.
Projects may, in particular, address advanced aromatic and π-conjugated organic systems with tailored structural, electronic, or photophysical properties and explore their potential relevance to areas such as optoelectronics, bioimaging, circularly polarised luminescence, molecular sensing, and other emerging applications.
Candidates should identify the IOC PAS research group and Principal Investigator whose expertise and research environment are best suited to support the scientific objectives of their proposed project.
MATERIALIZE fellows will conduct their projects within one of the participating research groups at IOC PAS.
Each fellow will work under the guidance of an experienced Principal Investigator while retaining the scientific independence needed to develop an original project and build an individual research profile.
Candidates do not apply for predefined research topics. Instead, each candidate proposes an original interdisciplinary project within the scientific scope of the programme.
Selected fellows will take responsibility for the scientific direction of their work, including the formulation of research questions, choice of methodology and development of collaborations. Each project will be hosted by one of the participating research groups at IOC PAS and supported by an experienced Principal Investigator.
The proposed project should demonstrate a clear connection between the candidate’s research idea and the expertise of the selected host group.
The application should explain:
the originality and scientific relevance of the project;
its alignment with the scientific scope of MATERIALIZE;
why the selected group and supervisor provide a suitable research environment;
how the project can be completed using the available expertise and infrastructure;
its potential for interdisciplinary collaboration.
